…says Kano NCDC is a complete failure
…as some northern states reject evacuees from Kano state
A lady who simply gave her name as Fatima Ahmed in a trending audio message that has gone viral has accused the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC over the death of her son in-law due to the centre’s alleged negligence in Kano State.
In her message, she claimed that due to the delay on the part of the centre the son in-law died due to complications of Covid-19.
She rained abuses on the body alleging she called all the hot lines in Kano and Abuja without getting any reasonable response to help save her son in-law.
The situation from Thenewsguru. com, TNG probe into Kano covid -19 situation revealed that it is fast taking a larger than life shape.
See full transcription of Fatima Ahmed message and audio below:
I have a problem with the Kano state government and NCDC in Kano state. My son in-law has been sick since Monday, my daughter called me and told me it is high fever and she told me it is typhoid and when she told me it is typhoid I asked her if she was sure it was typhoid fever because typhoid fever, someone will say it is typhoid fever, from there he will be coughing and from there he will be sneezing, I asked her if she was sure and she said yes, that she has given him drugs and he is at home now and he is taking the drugs and I said okay.
On Tuesday I called her and asked her how he was feeling and she told me he is getting better little by little and I said okay so long as he is getting better there is no problem.
Yesterday around 3am, she called me that he cannot talk again, that his breathing is very high and I told her that I said earlier that maybe this problem he is having is COVID-19, that if somebody is having fever and he cannot talk properly and he is coughing, what do you expect, that it is COVID-19, please rush him to the hospital.
I asked her if she has called NCDC, she said yes that they have been calling NCDC since yesterday night, that all the phone lines are not going through and that somebody gave them another number and that they have been calling that number, that it rings but nobody answered it.
So I decided to call the NCDC here in Abuja and when I called them they said they will get back to me, that they will call the Kano centre and tell them what is happening. They asked me where he is at the moment and I told them they have taken him to a private hospital named international in Kano.
When they took him to that international hospital in Kano, they admitted him and place him on oxygen and after about one hour another doctor came in and told them to go to Mallam Aminu Kano that he is responding to the oxygen, that was just a ploy for the doctors to drive them away from the hospital and I don’t blame him for that.
So on getting to Aminu Kano Hospital, they placed him on oxygen again. I called the NCDC here in Abuja again, I asked them if the people have started going, I told them that they drove them from that international hospital that they are now at Aminu Kano Hospital and they told me that they will go there.
So in every 30minutes interval I will call the NCDC here in Abuja because the ones in Kano are not responding but they keep telling me that they will soon go there and when the thing was getting out of hand I told them to tell me the truth before he finally told me that the NCDC in Kano have been shut down and I told him that you know that they have been shut down but you kept telling me they will go there. I told me why did you play with my intelligence and he said he was sorry.
So I called Ray Power radio, I was live on radio around 4 0’clock and I told them my experience. My son in-law died after two hours after he was admitted at Aminu Kano Hospital.
So I am holding the Kano state government and the NCDC in Kano responsible for the death of my son in-law and now what pains me most, that my heart is broken into pieces is that what will happen to my daughter and my grandchildren when there is no NCDC in Kano.
Please I want people to come to my aid, I am dying, I am an old woman, I don’t want my daughter and my grandchildren to die in Kano, there is no NCDC in Kano state. NCDC in Kano please take note, see what you can do. I am also making an appeal to the minister of FCT to please come to my aid.
I am calling on all well-meaning Nigerians to please come to my aid so that they can go and test my daughter and my grandchildren. I am an old woman of 70years old and my heart is broken into pieces.
Still on the situation in Kano, on Thursday the Niger state government rejected truck loads of evacuees from the state clearly indicating that all is not well with the state.
Kaduna, a neighbouring state too had earlier closed its borders to the most populated state in Nigeria.
For sometime now no records is coming out of Kano again on the situation of the pandemic.
As it is Kano is in a total mess and people are leaving the city en-mass to other cities and infecting people.
The governor is hiding the situation in that town in his regular fashion asking for N15billion to combat the scourge.
Kaduna had to close its border with Kano because of the influx of people from there into the state. . I even met one at the ATM who came in on Tuesday with his family and thanking GOD he is in Kaduna.
The FG must do something about Kano or they will infect the whole Nigeria. Some cases in Lagos and most cities in the North are all traced to Kano State.
