Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has today signed N308.9 billion Delta 2018 Budget into law, with an increment observed against the budget proposal the Governor presented in October.
Governor Okowa signed the budget into law at a well-attended event that held at the Government House in Asaba.
TheNewsGuru reports in October, Governor Okowa presented a N298 billion 2018 budget proposal to the State House of Assembly.
While presenting the budget proposal, Okowa stated that the budget would rely mostly on Statutory Allocation from the Federal Government.
Meanwhile, TheNewsGuru observed the Delta state 2018 budget has been upped by 3.6 per cent, as the 2018 budget Governor Okowa signed into law today is in excess of N10.83 billion different from the budget proposal of N298 billion Governor Okowa presented in October.
Efforts to verify areas where the budget saw increment proved abortive at the time of filing this report.
The Delta state 2018 budget, tagged Budget of Hope and Consolidation, Okowa expressed confidence that in unlikely event of any internal or external shocks, Deltans will be fine as long as the State continues in the tradition of fiscal discipline, prudence and accountability.
Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Sheriff Oborevwori, accompanied by his Deputy, Osanebi Ossai Friday, and Clerk of the House, Mrs Lyna Ochukor, attended the appropriation bill signing event.
Other principal officers of the House, members of the Delta State Executive Council and other top government functionaries also witnessed the signing of the appropriation bill into law.
