An attack in Bagana community in Omala Local Government Area of Kogi State has claimed the lives of nine people.

While four people were killed during an attack on a shop, five others were reportedly killed when the attackers went on a shooting spree in the community.

The state’s police spokesperson, William Aya, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Wednesday.

Aya said the shop owner had phoned the police at about 9.30 pm on Tuesday, informing them that his sales boy and three other customers were killed by the assailants.

He said operatives of the state’s police command were subsequently mobilised to the scene and the injured victims were taken to the hospital.

Aya further said that the police had commenced manhunt to fish out the perpetrators.

Recall that an armed group had reportedly invaded a Living Faith Church in Osara, Adavi Local Government Area, over the weekend and kidnapped three members.

Although the police had debunked the report while speaking to newsmen, the Chairman of Adavi LGA confirmed the incident but blamed the church members for going against a security directive restricting night activities.

The members were said to have been holding a rehearsal when the incident occurred.
