A section of the Akinrun of Ikirun palace was set ablaze following the Obaship tussle ravaging the town for few weeks now.
It was gathered that a one person identified as Lukuman Omoola was allegedly shot dead due to the renewed crisis brewing in Ikirun town.
Findings show that there were plans by some powerful members of the town to smuggle the new monarch into the palace but the process met stiff resistance from the community people.
The late king was reportedly a descendant of the Gboleru Ruling House, one of the ruling houses fighting to fill the royal stool before it was passed on to the Obaara Ruling House via an Osun High Court ruling.
Trouble started when the Osun State Government appointed Prince Yinusa Olalekan Akadiri as the Akinrun and also after the new king allegedly led other persons to the town to gain access to the palace.
Akadiri’s appointment as the Akinrun by the Osun State Government did not have the support of the majority of the town’s people including chiefs and the head of kingmakers.
However, after being rejected many times by the people of the town, the state government called him and presented the staff of office to him at the state government secretariat.
