Amidst tears and eulogies, a funeral programme holds in Benin, Edo State on Friday (today) for prominent Benin billionaire and philanthropist, Capt. Idahosa Wells Okunbo, who passed away on August 7.
Recall TheNewsGuru (TNG) had earlier reported that the family spokesman and younger brother of the deceased, Mr. Kingsley Okunbo, who announced the burial activities at a news briefing on Monday in Benin, said there would be two days of tributes.
Speaking at the occasion, Olori Atunwatse iii (Wife) of the Olu of Warri, HRH Ogiame Atuwatse III and daughter of late Okunbor celebrates her father during the funeral service.
Her words: “May God honour all those who found time in their busy schedule to attend this event in honour of my father…My father was a great man he lived a life of service to humanity. My father was my hero, he faced lots of hardship but doesn’t see a world of impossibilities. I cherish that he also attended to every need of the family.
“I remember when my first child was born, the smile on his face, he danced and was so excited. He taught me about family love, love for humanity and how to triumph in difficult times.
Among those who attended the event include, Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; former governor of Delta State, James Ibori, among others.

According to Kingsley Okunbo, Saturday, October 9 and Sunday, October 10 would be for social wake (party) and thanksgiving, respectively.
Okunbo said all Covid-19 protocol would be strictly adhered to, adding that the state government has approved a vaccination post for the venue.
