Ede community in Ede North Local Government Area of Osun state was Wednesday thrown into pandemonium when a notorious cult gang attacked Hausa community.
Three persons have been reportedly killed while many are suspected to be injured.
It was gathered that the suspected thugs attacked some Hausa traders in the community with various kinds of weapons.
According to a resident of the town, who spoke to our correspondent under the condition of anonymity, the thugs were led by the second-in-command to a notorious thug, simply Identified as Rasheed Oko-Ilu, whom the police had declared wanted over a series of criminal allegations.
During the clash, three of the hoodlums were killed, including their leader.
When contacted the Seriki Hausa in Ede, Alhaji Gambo Ibrahim who confirmed the attack, said the thugs attacked both Yoruba and Hausa traders in the market.
Seriki added that some properties were stolen, while many commodities were destroyed by the thugs.
“The situation is calm now. We thank the Commissioner of Police for the quick intervention and the OC anti-cultist, the boys have been with us for days now to keep everything calm. We thank the Governor too and the Ede community people for their support,” Seriki said.
The Osun police command spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola said some hoodlums invaded Sabo community and carted away motorcycles owned by Hausa resident in the area.
