Details have emerged of the casualties involved in the gas plant explosion that occurred at a Lagos community on Thursday morning.
TheNewsGuru.com, TNG, reports that the gas station exploded at Best Roof Gas Station located at Unity bus stop, Fatade area of Baruwa, Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos.
“The explosions started around 5.44am and people were shouting and running helter-skelter. A thick smoke engulfed the whole area,” an eye witness told TheNewsGuru.com (TNG).

The explosion also affected houses, a primary school and other properties in the area.
Confirming the incident, Director General of the Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, informed that it occurred around 6 am. He said emergency responders were immediately mobilised to the explosion site.
“Further investigation at the scene revealed that the gas station belonging to Best Roof Cooking Gas exploded and engulfed and razed down buildings around. The cause of the explosion has not been ascertained as at press time.
“Unfortunately, four mortalities were recorded and several others injured.
25 houses that are mostly bungalows, 16 lock-up shops and one primary school have been affected.
“Firefighters and rescue workers are operating at the incident scene. The gas emission has been identified and curtailed. Damping down is ongoing.
“Post-disaster assessment will be carried out and further updates provided.”
“A combined effort of the agency’s Tiger team, Dolphin team, LRU Fire, LASG Fire Service, NPF, NUPENG, and LNSC are on ground to curtail the spread of the fire to other buildings”
“On arrival at the scene of the incident, it was observed that there was a gas explosion at the aforementioned location.”
