Senegalese and West Ham striker Diafra Sakho will not feature in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. Sakho will be out of action for 8 weeks with a back injury.
The West Ham United issued a statement on 30 November that the 26-year-old would be missing for six weeks because of a thigh injury, meaning he would not be available until mid-January.
Wesh Ham Manager Slaven Bilic said on Thursday that Sakho may be out of action for about 8 weeks which means he might not be back till mid-February.
The 2017 Africa Cup of Nations starts on 14 January.
Two years ago, Sakho did not play for Senegal’s national team due to back injury but 18 days later he scored in West Ham’s FA Cup 1-0 win over Bristol City.
As a result, West Ham United were fined £71,000 by Fifa.
Sakho scored in West Ham 1-1 draw at Manchester United.Last month which was his second appearance of the season.
He moved to West Ham in 2014 from French club Metz and his move to West Brom last season for £15m was called off because of the back injury
West Ham are 13th in the Premier League table and five points above the relegation zone.
