Following his unruly behaviour at halftime in the game Liverpool versus Arsenal, assistant referee, Constantine Hatzidakis has been suspended from officiating any matches while a Football Association, FA, investigation is carried out into an incident involving him and Liverpool’s Andy Robertson on Sunday.
A video has surfaced online where Robertson was seen yelling at the assistant referee at Anfield and he reacted by elbowing him on the face.
The official seemed to throw out his hand to shrug him off, although footage suggested he may have caught the Liverpool fullback on the chin with his elbow.
On Monday, the Professional Game Match Officials Limited released a statement confirming his suspension.
It reads: “PGMOL will not be appointing Constantine Hatzidakis to fixtures in any of the competition it serves whilst The FA investigates the incident involving the assistant referee and Liverpool defender Andrew Robertson at Anfield.”
If found guilty, the referee will face more disciplinary actions.
