English Premier League defending Champions, Manchester City on Wednesday night defeated RB Leipzig 3-1 in their UEFA Champions League encounter at the Red Bull Arena.
Forward Phil Foden opened scoring in the 28th minute of the encounter before Lois Openda equalized for the home side in the 48th minute.
However, Julian Alvarez and Jeremy Doku struck late on to hand City the deserved win.
The visitors were in near-total control throughout the first half, retaining over 70 percent of the possession. Their dominance was rewarded in the 25th minute when Foden slotted home Rico Lewis’ cutback to put City in the lead.
Elsewhere, Newcastle defeated Paris Saint German 4-1 in a very thrilling encounter.
Newcastle’s goals were scored by Almirón (17′), Burn (39′), Longstaff at 50′, and Schär scored the fourth at 90′.
The scorer of the Parisian goal was Lucas Hernández, from a pass from Zaïre-Emery (56′).
Meanwhile Italian Side AC Milan were held to a second successive goalless draw in the Champions League at Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday to slip to third in Group F.
Stefano Pioli’s Italian side, semi-finalists last season, created the better chances but failed to convert them, just as in their opening 0-0 draw with Newcastle at the San Siro.
Newcastle climbed to the summit of the group while PSG dropped to second position. AC Milan are now third on the log while German side Borussia Dortmund are currently occupying the last position.
